Return to Ravnica: Spoiler Reviews

Hey guys. Like everyone, I'm excited about Return to Ravnica, and I want to talk about the spoilers.
First up:

O.o So this card was found as a misprint in a pack of M13. Coolio. No, I do not think this card is good enough for standard, unless they decide to reprint something that makes decent-sized tokens like Call of the Herd. Hmmmm......... Maybe? Could be one or 2 in the sideboard against a control deck for a G/W aggro deck. Meh. However, I think this card is AWESOME for limited. Think of drafting something Selensya-ish. Your opponent attack into you field of, say, a 1/1 token and a 2/2 dooder with his 2 2/2s. You play this and Boom! YOu get a 2-for 0 (The token from the card, and the combat pwnage is free) Of course, that's the best case scenarion, but still, you see my point. Awesome for limited, probably not gonna make it in Constructed.
And now, WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, I PRESENT:

Awwwwwww. It's not actually that good. It might be a one-or-two of Grindy, G/B Zombies deck like the one shown Here, (Gatheringmagic is awesome)  but Grindy-er. (Of course, some cards rotate out of Standard, but still) Ass for casual format, watch this in Commander. Gonna be SWEET.

Thx for reading, I'll be back soon.

MNM: M13 Draft

Hi, my name is Sanchez (yes that is my first name) and this is the first post of hopefully many magic posts on my blog. This Monday, (hence MNM, not FNM) I went to a local 8 man M13 draft, and here's the report. I forgot my notes this time, so I don't have a decklist, but it looked something like this:

2 Searing Spear
2 Crimson Muckwader
1 Stuffy Doll
1 Chronomaton
1 Hamletback Goliath
1 Disciple of Bolas
1-2 Canyon Minataur
1 Flames of the Firebrand
1 Magmaquake
1 Mindclaw Shaman
1 Goblin Arsonist
1 Cower in Fear
1 Crippling Blight
8 More cards, probably some Hill Giant-esque doods and some burn.
1 Dragonskull Summit
9 Mountains
7 Swamps

My thoughts on the deck were
1: "Hey, this deck is pretty good"
                and
2: WTF!!!! NO VAMPIRE NIGHTHAWKS OR MURDERS?!??!?!?
As it turned out, another guy at our table got 2 Nighthawks AND 2 murders. Dang. Anyways, enough whining on how I had a bad deck, onto the games.

Game 1, Match 1
I don't know any of these guys names, but he had a Blue/Red Burn deck with some fliers.
I was getting beaten down by a Welkin Tern or two, but I had some burn in the form of Searing Spears and Flames of the Firebrand. Eventually, we started trading creatures, but he couldn't attack profitably into my Stuffy Doll, and my Canyon Minotaur and some other D00ds killed him
Game 2
Let me tell you that I lost. Turns out Magmaquake doesn't affect his Slumbering Dragon, or his Welkin Tern with a Volanic Strength on it. :(
Game 3
I win this one because even when he Mark of Mutinies my Stuffy Doll, it hurts him. Yay.

:)

1-0 in Matches
Game 1-2, Match 2
These 2 games are blowouts, but HE'S the one who blows ME out. I guess I can go into detail, but the games are kind of a blur of blue and white fliers killing me, and Encrusts killing my guys. Damn.
1-1 in matches.

Match 3, Game 1-2
Again, I'm sorry that I do not have much detail, but I got paired down, which sucks, and his G/B Deck TEARS ME APART. I can tell you, it was one of the best m13 draft decks I'd ever seen. He had 2 Vampire Nighthawk, 2 Murders, 2 Serra (Sentinel, technically) Spiders, and a NEFAROX, OVERLORD OF GRIXIS. He got it both games, and in the first game, he got both Vampire Nighthawks. I died quickly. :(

Bonus Section: Talking about m13 draft.
I want to talk about some fine points of m13 draft, First of all, I think green is the best color. It has Sentinel Spider, which is basically Serra Angel at common (Sure, it has no evasion, but it can't get Plummeted) Timberpack Wolf, Deadly Recluse, Arbor Elf, Elvish Visionary, Farseek, Primal Huntbeast and Plummet as some really good commons. At uncommon, it has Duskdale Wurm, Flinthoof Boar, Mwonvuli Beast Tracker (Which fetches Primal Huntbeast and the curves into it), and, the card that NEVER GOES AWAY, Rancor. As a control player, I hate it, but the Spike inside me says to play it anyway, and just win. Also, don't even get me STARTED at the swingy-ness of green's rares. Think Thragtusk is good in constructed? Guess how good he is in limited. Anyways, Wizards did a great job with M13, but I think cards like Sentinel Spider and Primal Huntbeast were pushed a little too far, making green just a little better. Though, black is a close second, as removal + "That one Vampire" is pretty good.
Thank you for reading this far, and hopefully I'll be posting more soon!
